Hello there, my name is Susie Macon. Born and raised in Illinois, I moved to DeLand in 1967. I grew up in a small Midwest town, and coming here was like being home only there were palm trees. I moved back to the Chicago area for several years, but the “sand in my shoes” lured me back to Florida. I can’t imagine living anywhere else, but DeLand.
My professional life has always been centered on sales and service. I spent a total of twenty-two years in the jewelry business in Downtown DeLand. All of the professional and personal relationships from those years meant so much to me, so when I started the second part of my life as a Realtor®, I was thrilled that those relationships were the basis of my first years in real estate. I have always enjoyed helping people find something that is just right for them. I am very detail oriented and like being able to follow a project through from the very start to the finish.
One of my strongest personal commitments has been to the MainStreet DeLand Association. I have been involved as a member since the beginning in 1985. My business and my home were in the downtown area, so being part of the revitalization of downtown was very important to me. I am so proud of our downtown and all that has been accomplished. During the past twenty-four years of MainStreet, I have served on the Board of Directors, the Executive Board, Chairperson of several committees, and also as President. I am currently serving again on the Board of Directors. Anyone who has ever spent time downtown, especially during one of our festivals or events will understand why I love it so much. My other community and professional involvements are with Faith, Hope and Charity, The Mystic Crew of Maravedi, the American Cancer Society, Krewe de Coeur ( Second Harvest Book Bank of Volusia), Discover DeLand, West Volusia Association of Realtors®.
My other personal passions are my family (who all need to move to Florida) and my friends (all of whom are very special blessings in my life). I love to read, take long walks, and I firmly believe there is no such thing as a bad day on the golf course.
I am very excited about joining the Town & Country family. I have known almost all of them for a long time and have had the pleasure of serving with many of them on a variety of different committees. Their commitment to our community is amazing. I am honored to now have the opportunity to work with them.
